Terms of Service

Last updated: August 28, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Modern CPR website and course (the “Service”), operated by Modern CPR (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of service

Modern CPR provides an online educational course covering CPR, AED use, and first aid, aligned with the 2025 ILCOR/AHA guideline science. On successful completion of the course exam, we issue a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is a knowledge-based credential documenting that you completed the course and passed the exam. It is not a hands-on certification and is not the same as a provider-level credential (such as BLS) that requires an in-person skills evaluation.

3. Accounts

Some features — including checkout and saving your progress — will require an account when they launch. You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. Intellectual property and your license

All content in the Service — including lessons, text, graphics, audio, question banks, and software — is owned by Modern CPR or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the content for your own individual, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, publicly display, or create derivative works from the content without our prior written permission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Among other things, you will not: share your account or certificate in a false or fraudulent way; attempt to copy, scrape, or extract the question bank or course content; interfere with or disrupt the Service; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system; or use the Service in violation of any applicable law.

6. The Certificate of Completion and its limits

Your Certificate of Completion documents knowledge-based training. It is important that you understand its limits:

  • It is not a substitute for a course that requires an in-person, hands-on skills evaluation (for example, many hospital, clinical, nursing, and EMS roles).
  • Acceptance varies by employer, profession, and state, and can change over time. We do not control and cannot guarantee whether any particular employer, school, or licensing body will accept it.
  • You are responsible for confirming the specific requirements that apply to you before relying on the certificate. See our acceptance guide.

7. Disclaimers of warranty

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content is complete or suitable for any particular purpose. The Service is educational and is not medical advice; see our disclaimer.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Modern CPR and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Refunds

Our refund and satisfaction/acceptance guarantee is described on our Refund & Guarantee page, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
